Carol Fennell is a Colorado-based mixed media artist whose dimensional wall pieces layer paint, wood, clay, paper, and found objects into richly textured narratives. Her work often incorporates objects that symbolize our connection to nature, blending form and meaning to tell stories that invite reflection. While her work is concept-driven rather than bound to a single medium, her pieces are uited by tactile survaces and a sense of organic harmonyAn award winning painting, Fennell has exhibited for more than twenty years in galleries and museums across the country, including Santa Fe, Dallas, Omaha, Vail, Breckenridge, Chicago, Sedona, and Denver. Her work has been featured in solo exhbitions and museum invitationals, including Evansville Museum of Art. She has created over a hundred unique installations for public spaces such as Exempla Good Samaritan, Castle Rock Hospital, Children's Hospital, Platte Valley Medical, Memorial Hospital, San Luis Valley Health, Jeppesen Air, Melissa and Doug Toys, Sky Ridge Medical, Kaiser Permanente, and Aspen Veterinary.
Fennell's passion for commuity is evident in her collaborative public art projects. She partnered with the community to create the Purple Poppy Project in Central Park and Stanley Marketplace. Particpants painted purple poppes, formed by blending red, white and blue, to symbolize unity and connection. She has complete other large-scale community installations, and has served as artist-in-residence in numerous schools, guiding students in the creation of collective artworks.
She earned her Masters of Fine Art from Northern Illinois University. She now calls Colorado home along with her husband, two kids and a home full of art.
